With the Vikings now 13-2 and with no show this week, we just wanted to take the opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas with a festive treat.
’Twas the Night Before Game Day
’Twas the night before game day,
and all through the house,
Not a fan was asleep—not even a spouse.
The jerseys were hung in the closet with care,
In hopes that a Vikings win soon would be there.
The fans were all nestled, their nerves running high,
While visions of touchdowns lit up the night sky.
And I in my jersey, and you in your hat,
Had just settled in for a pre-game-day chat.
When out on the field,
there arose such a roar,
I sprang from the window to see what was in store.
Away to the TV I flew like a flash,
Turned on the pre-game, ahead of the clash.
The glow of the Bank, with its roof shining bright,
Promised a battle that cold winter night.
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
A purple sleigh, led by eight Vikings—no fear!
With a mighty young coach, so lively and free,
I knew in a moment it must be Coach KOC.
More rapid than rival teams, Vikings they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
“Now, Darnold! Now, Jefferson! Now, Van Ginkel and Hock!
On, Addison! On, Metellus! Let’s give them a shock!
To the top of the North, we’ll answer the call!
Now score away! Score away! Let’s win it all!”
The stadium erupted with cheers so high,
Purple lights danced under the US Bank sky.
So up to the field, the purple crew flew,
With a sleigh full of hope—and Will Reichard, too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard with a grin,
The crowd chanting: “Skol!” willing a win.
As I grabbed my drink and turned back around,
Out came Captain Darnold, bound to astound.
He was dressed in his gear, from helmet to cleat,
And he looked so determined—no sign of defeat.
His hand held a football, so ready to throw,
For Jets to grab and put on a show.
The crowd—how they hollered, their joy shining bright!
Their cheers filled the stadium that frosty night.
The Vikings scored fast, their offense in sync,
As B-Flo’s defense made the other team shrink.
From the North, they fought hard, with pride they would play,
Determined to conquer by the end of the day.
With a team full of heart and fans full of zeal,
The Vikings kept pushing, their tenacity so real.
Coach raised his arms as the scoreboard displayed,
The Vikings victorious, their effort repaid.
The fans sang out loudly, their spirits alight—
“Skol Vikings to all, and to all a good night!”
