The Minnesota Vikings made just one selection on day 2 of the 2025 NFL draft, picking up Maryland wide receiver Tai Felton with the 102nd pick after trading back from pick #97.

Felton arrives in the NFL on the back of a highly successful 2024 season, in which he went for over 1,100 yards on 96 catches to lead the Big Ten conference in both categories. He also snagged nine touchdowns for Maryland last season, enough for fourth place in the conference. He was recognised for his achievements by being named as an All-Big Ten first-teamer, alongside fellow Vikings newcomer Donovan Jackson.

Felton isn’t the first Terrapin wide receiver to be selected by Minnesota: in 2015, the Vikings used the 146th pick to take Stefon Diggs, now a four-time Pro Bowler and a 2020 All-Pro. Felton will also reunite with former teammate Jeshaun Jones, whom the Vikings picked up as an undrafted free agent last year.

It was always scheduled to be a long wait for Minnesota’s first involvement in day 2 of the draft, having traded away their original second- and third-round picks in order to move up in the first round last year. Holding the 97th overall pick as compensation for losing QB Kirk Cousins in free agency last year, the Vikings decided to trade that pick and a sixth-rounder (187th overall) to the Houston Texans for picks #102 and #142. That will see the Vikings pick twice early in the fifth round, ending their draft midway through the third day unless any further trades go through.
