Minnesota Vikings @ Seattle Seahawks
Lumen Field, Seattle, WA
November 30, 2025 – 9:05 p.m. BST

J. J. McCarthy had just 87 yards and two INTs through the air against the Packers

After another dispiriting defeat on their travels on Sunday, the Vikings go on the road again this week to take on a familiar face in the Seattle Seahawks and their quarterback, Sam Darnold, who had a career year with Minnesota last season. Much discussion came up in the offseason about whether to stick with Darnold or roll the dice on J. J. McCarthy, and the short-term evidence suggests the Vikings made the wrong call.

McCarthy managed just 87 yards through the air on Sunday, and added two picks in the fourth quarter as he fought to get the Vikings back into the contest. It’s proving to be a steep learning curve for McCarthy in his first year as a professional starter, and coming up against Seattle’s much-vaunted defense could spell a fourth straight defeat for the Vikings.

What uniforms are the Vikings wearing against the Seahawks?

As the home team, the Seahawks have first choice of uniforms for this game. They’ve opted to wear their classic home uniforms of royal blue jerseys and silver pants, which means the Vikings will wear their primary road uniforms of white jerseys and purple pants.

Keys to the game

Max Brosmer will make his first professional start on Sunday

With rookie quarterback Max Brosmer under center this week, maintaining a clean pocket will be of paramount importance to any success the Vikings might have on offense. Unfortunately, the offensive line is a position that’s been embattled with injuries; no sooner had C Ryan Kelly returned from concussion to anchor a fully fit offensive line for the first time this season than the two men to his left – T Christian Darrisaw and G Donovan Jackson – picked up their own injuries in last week’s loss to the Packers. Darrisaw may have shown enough in practice to play some part, but Jackson being out means Blake Brandel or Joe Huber will fill in next to Kelly, while Darrisaw could share reps with Justin Skule.

The Vikings’ defense will have to have a good all-round game on Sunday to put a stranglehold on a Seattle team that have scored at least 20 points in all but one of their games since week 1. However, their primary focus will be on stopping quarterback Sam Darnold in the passing game. Darnold led the Vikings to a 14–3 record last season, and although he’s already lost as the same number of games this season, he’s had a passer rating of at least 111.0 in seven of his last nine appearances. The Vikings will be keen on Sunday to avoid Darnold giving them any more reasons to regret letting him go in the offseason.

Previous meetings

The Vikings have come up against the Seahawks 20 times since the Seattle franchise was founded in 1976, though most of those have come since they rejoined the NFC in 2002. That figure includes one postseason meeting back in 2016, a 10–9 loss that is better best forgotten (although Blair Walsh’s missed chip shot field goal is one that Vikings fans won’t soon forget in a hurry).

On the positive side, the Vikings have won their last two games against the Seahawks, although last season’s 27–24 victory was their first in six meetings in Seattle, the last one before that coming in 2006. The Vikings have never won three in a row against the Seahawks, and it’s looking unlikely that that record will be changing this Sunday.

Vikings injury report

The most significant injury suffered by the Vikings this week was to quarterback J. J. McCarthy, who was reported as having suffered a concussion late in the game against the Packers. He was placed in the concussion protocol and limited in practice all week, leaving undrafted free agent Max Brosmer as the starter for the foreseeable future.

The Vikings also suffered injuries to T Christian Darrisaw and G Donovan Jackson during the loss to the Packers. Both missed practice entirely on Wednesday and Thursday, but Darrisaw was able to take limited part on Friday, leaving him questionable for the game while Jackson was ruled out.

Also questionable for Sunday is OLB Jonathan Greenard, who missed last weekend’s divisional game with a shoulder injury. Safeties Theo Jackson (neck) and Josh Metellus (knee/shoulder) join him on the questionable list, along with DL Jalen Redmond, who picked up a hip injury during the week. OLB Dallas Turner (hip) – who saw limited reps on Wednesday and Thursday before being a full participant on Friday – did not have an injury designation for the game.

Seahawks injury report

Amid injuries to running backs Kenneth Walker III (glute) and George Holani (hamstring), the Seahawks signed former Viking Cam Akers to their roster earlier in the week. With Holani ruled out and Walker only just back in full practice on Friday, Akers has a chance of seeing the field against his former team, but the Seahawks do still have Zach Charbonnet at their disposal. Rookie DE Rylie Mills was the only other player ruled out, having missed the entire season so far as a result of an ACL injury suffered at the end of his final year with Notre Dame.

Starting safety Ty Okada (oblique) is the only player deemed questionable, only returning to limited practice on Thursday and Friday. All other players mentioned in the Seahawks injury report, including LB Ernest Jones (knee) and G Grey Zabel (knee), had no injury designation for Sunday and should be good to go to face the Vikings.
