Washington Commanders @ Minnesota Vikings
U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN
December 7, 2025 – 6 p.m. BST

Max Brosmer is expected to return to the bench after a four-pick debut last week
The Vikings return to U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday desperate to end a four-game losing streak against a Washington Commanders team who are one of only two sides in the NFC currently on a worse run of form. Max Brosmer’s debut NFL start went about as badly as it could have against the Seahawks last week, as he threw four interceptions – including a pick-six – in the Vikings’ first shutout loss since 2007.
With J. J. McCarthy potentially returning from a concussion this week, he’ll have a chance to reassert his claim to the starting job. He has a long way to go to prove he’s the guy to lead the Vikings into 2026 and beyond, but Sunday will be the first of five chances for him to do so for the remainder of 2025.
For all the info about Sunday’s must-win clash, including how you can get together to watch it with fellow Vikings fans, here’s our must-read preview.

What uniforms are the Vikings wearing against the Commanders?
As the home team, the Vikings have first choice of uniforms for this game. They’ve opted to wear their primary home uniforms of purple jerseys and white pants, which means the Commanders will wear their primary road uniforms of white jerseys and burgundy pants.
Keys to the game

Aaron Jones has rushed for just 300 yards and one TD this season
With J. J. McCarthy back under center for the Vikings, one of the keys to victory on Sunday will be to take the pressure off him having to be successful through the air. Aaron Jones was also passed fit, so with the one-two punch of him and Jordan Mason in the backfield, the Vikings should try to emphasise the run game in order to open up passing opportunities for McCarthy later in the game.
On defense, the Vikings have just 11 turnovers this season, tied for eighth fewest in the league. Of course, increasing that number is easier said than done, but with the offense unable to stay on the field for extended drives, the defense need to start coming away with the ball more often. The Vikings haven’t won the turnover battle since beating the Bengals in week 3; winning just two of their nine games since then is no coincidence.
Previous meetings
The Vikings have faced the Commanders just 23 times in the regular season, leading the series between them 13–10. They’ve won five of their last six meetings, including each of the last three in Minneapolis, stretching back to November 2013. Their only previous clash at U.S. Bank Stadium saw Adrian Peterson return to face his former team; although he managed over 100 scrimmage yards, the Vikings did manage to keep him out of the end zone on the way to a 19–9 victory.
The most recent meeting between the two teams took place in Washington back in 2022. Despite taking the lead thanks to a Justin Jefferson touchdown in the first quarter, the Vikings trailed 17–7 early in the fourth. Thanks to a Dalvin Cook score midway through the quarter, sandwiched by two Greg Joseph field goals, the Vikings scored 13 unanswered points to take a 20–17 victory.
Vikings injury report
The Vikings had an extensive injury report in the week of this game, though one positive was the return of J. J. McCarthy to full practice after a week off with a concussion. RB Aaron Jones, OLB Jonathan Greenard and S Josh Metellus should also be fit to play on Sunday despite being limited all week with shoulder injuries.
There were also concerns over the fitness of G Blake Brandel (concussion), C Ryan Kelly (hip) and DL Jalen Redmond (hip), but all three had no designation in Friday’s injury report. Less fortunate were S Theo Jackson (neck) and DL Levi Drake Rodriguez (neck), who were ruled out for Sunday. G Donovan Jackson (ankle) returned to limited practice in the week, while T Christian Darrisaw managed two full practices, leading to questionable designations. RB Ty Chandler was also questionable as his 21-day window was opened to return to the active roster for the first time since suffering a knee injury in week 1.
Commanders injury report
All eyes were on Jayden Daniels on the Commanders’ injury report this week; the second-year quarterback dislocated his elbow against the Seattle Seahawks in week 9 and was set for a much longer spell on the sidelines, only to be cleared to return to action against the Vikings. Despite criticism of the decision to start Daniels this week as “reckless”, he could provide the shot in the arm the Commanders’ offense has been lacking amid a seven-game losing streak.
Joining Daniels in being passed fit are DT Javon Kinlaw (back), LB Frankie Luvu (shoulder) and LS Tyler Ott (back), while LB Bobby Wagner (knee) is questionable along with WR Noah Brown, who has been designated to return from injured reserve. Ruled out for the Commanders are T George Fant (knee) and DE Drake Jackson (knee/groin).
