2023 Week 2

Minnesota Vikings @ Philadelphia Eagles

After the first game where everyone on the planet expected us to win, we took that on the chin and moved onto the Eagles, nobody gave us a chance! 

I was hopeful but realistically I couldn’t see a way after the demolition job they did on us last year, and yes, they beat us……but to me we gave them the game!

The positives

After the dust settled there is so many things to be positive about. Kirk is hitting his targets as always and seems to me to have a bit more time in the pocket, Jefferson is carrying on where he left off, TJ is an amazing tight end can get them yards after the grab , Addison looks like he’s been on the league for years (love his confidence!), and Josh Oliver is great on blocking and is getting the catches too! 

We have so many weapons, I think we can all agree the defense under Flores has taken a major step up. I’m loving the pass rush and the coverage was great as Hurts looked lost so many times with the man coverage. I’m sure that’s why they went to the ground which we can get better at blocking!

Now for the “needs improvement” bit.

KJ needs to keep hold of the ball more. At the end of last season, he already seemed to have taken Adams’ place but so far this year has not filled his shoes and is in danger of losing his receiver 2 spot to Addison. 

Mattison has not been great, he’s no Cook and we all know that, but he’s just not getting the yards. Maybe the offensive line is not making the space, but we need to work that out. He’s a great guy and the abuse he’s received has been disgusting. I’m happy he took to the internet to bring it to light. 

And then there are the dropped balls. We just need to keep a hold of it, and we will do great. I really felt for the punt returner, Powell, who got the ball and took it to the eagles 32-yard line only to fumble it, it was a great run! 

And that’s it. Lots of positives and a few negatives but feeling positive! Skol to all the great fans and this amazing Fan Club! See you all soon
