Minnesota Vikings @ Tennessee Titans
Nissan Stadium, Nashville, TN
August 23, 2025 – 1 a.m. BST

The Vikings’ preparations for the 2025 season come to a conclusion on Friday night, as they travel to Nashville for a meeting with the Tennessee Titans. After a disappointing loss to the New England Patriots on Saturday, the team will be hoping to come away from Nissan Stadium on a high heading into the regular season.

This game will provide a final opportunity for the coaching staff to assess the 90-odd players currently on the roster before making a decision about which 53 to retain when the final cuts are made next Tuesday, August 26th. Some spots are pretty secure, some are sure to be looking for a new place to land, while others have the chance to pull off a big performance on Friday night to make it onto the roster.

Read on to find out how you can watch this game and which players to keep an eye on.

Players to watch

Vikings tight ends Ben Yurosek (48), Gavin Bartholomew (86), Bryson Nesbit (46)

The Titans’ roster features a few ex-Vikings, including one who was only released in the last two weeks: Brian Asamoah. The linebacker only managed 10 snaps on special teams in his first outing for the Titans last week, but a few more days of practice should see him get a few reps against his former employers on Friday night. Other former Vikings to look out for are: QB Trevor Siemian, OT Oli Udoh, NT James Lynch, LB Blake Lynch and LB Jihad Ward.

But who do you need to look out for in the Vikings lineup in this final preseason game? While some spots on the roster are guaranteed, others are less certain. These are the players we think you should be looking out for:

  • Tight ends
    • Darren says: “[Gavin] Bartholomew’s obviously out on PUP or IR with his back, so I want to look a bit more into [Ben] Yurosek, who’s been a bit quiet, and [Bryson] Nesbit’s been involved, so I want to have a look at those. [Nick] Vannett obviously came in very recently and showed up. I don’t see him sticking around for long; He might be able to fight his way in, but I think he’s there more as a veteran head during training.”
  • Wide receivers
    • John says: “I’m going to go with [Myles] Price or Jeshaun Jones. Looking at the backup wide receivers is what I’m going to be doing, seeing how they’re faring, because apart from the secondary, that’s where we’re a bit lax and we need to improve. After you get past the first two, it’s kind of a weak area. I know [Jalen] Nailor picked up a hand injury, so if he’s not playing weeks 1, 2 and 3, we’re looking at desperately scrambling for a WR2.”
    • Darren says: “That’s where you’re hoping Tai Felton stands out, but I don’t think he will play this Friday. Obviously Lucky Jackson’s been a bit dropsy, Jeshaun Jones hasn’t really shown much, so it might be a run-out to see what we’re getting out of people like Dontae Fleming and Robert Lewis to see whether there’s any diamonds in the rough there.

Previous meetings

This is the Vikings’ eleventh preseason meeting with the Titans, including clashes with the Houston Oilers, who moved to Tennessee in 1997 and became the Titans in 1999. The Vikings hold a 7-3 record in the series to date, although two of the Titans’ three wins have come in Nashville. Their only win in Minneapolis came in the two teams’ most recent preseason meeting, just two seasons ago, when the Titans came away as 24-16 winners. On defense that day, safety Lewis Cine – only two weeks into his recovery from a broken leg suffered in London the previous October – managed 7 combined tackles, including a sack.

The Vikings also lead the regular-season series between the two, with 10 wins out of 15 meetings, and are level in the six meetings in Nashville. The Vikings evened that series last season, winning 23-13 thanks to a 47-yard touchdown catch by Jordan Addison. Quarterback Sam Darnold continued his dependable streak to help the Vikings to a 16-3 halftime lead, but although the Titans tried to come back into it in the second half on a 98-yard TD by Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, a touchdown pass from Darnold to Cam Akers put the result out of the Titans’ reach.
