Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers
Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI
November 23, 2025 – 6 p.m. BST

J. J. McCarthy had another sub-200-yard game against the Bears last week

The Vikings go back on the road this weekend to face their biggest rivals, the Green Bay Packers, hoping to avoid losing a third straight game for the first time this season. After a spirited fourth-quarter comeback against the Bears on Sunday, they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as Cairo Santos nudged through a game-winning field goal as time expired after the Vikings had come back from 16–3 down.

It’s another tough game for J. J. McCarthy in his first year as the team’s starting quarterback, but the Vikings will be buoyed by having won their last two games on the road against divisional opponents. They’ve also won their last two at Lambeau Field, although they haven’t three-peated there since back in 1993.

Keys to the game

Myles Price has been a revelation in the return game this season

Special teams has been an issue for the Vikings in some manner all season. Most of the time it’s a holding penalty bringing back a long kick return by Myles Price. On Sunday, the kickoff coverage allowed Bears receiver Devin Duvernay to spring a 56-yard return immediately after the Vikings had taken a one-point lead with under a minute left. Plays like these can leave a coach – and a fanbase – pulling their hair out, but 10 games into a season, you’d expect these sorts of errors to be starting to be ironed out. The question is, is it down to a lack of talent, a lack of discipline or just bad coaching?

The issues in the other two phases of the game are much the same as they have been through the previous 11 weeks. On defense, the Vikings need to either put Jordan Love under a ton of pressure up front or take away his receiving options (or preferably both) in order to keep the Packers’ offense in check. That will allow the offense to rely more on the run game to control the clock, rather than having to chase the game through the air as they’ve had to do a fair bit in recent weeks. We can’t keep relying on J. J. McCarthy to have a stellar fourth quarter after underperforming through the first three periods.

Previous meetings

As their divisional rivals, the Vikings have faced the Packers more than almost any other team in the league, meeting 127 times in regular season play. However, the Packers are the only team in the NFC North that the Vikings have a losing record against, with 59 wins, 65 defeats and 3 ties. The Vikings have had the upper hand in recent years, though, with the Packers having failed to record consecutive victories since 2020.

The Vikings have also won both of the last two games at Lambeau Field, although they haven’t won three straight on the road against the Packers since 1993. Their win there last season saw the Vikings jump out to a 28–0 lead before halftime. The Packers came back with four touchdowns of their own, but a fourth-quarter field goal from Will Reichard ended up proving the difference between the two teams.

Vikings injury report

The Vikings listed just two players as questionable for Sunday’s game: OLB Jonathan Greenard and C Ryan Kelly. Greenard missed last week’s game against the Bears with a shoulder injury and was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday after missing Wednesday. Meanwhile, Kelly is still on injured reserve with his second concussion of the season, though he was a full participant all week.

The Vikings began their week with one of their shortest injury reports of the season; just five players were listed on Wednesday and Thursday, three of them being full participants in practice. Aside from Greenard, the only non-participant on Wednesday was G Will Fries (calf), though he improved to full practice by Friday. T Christian Darrisaw was missed Thursday’s practice session as part of the management of his workload after suffering an ACL injury last season, but was a full participant on Wednesday and Friday. RB Aaron Jones also took full part on all three days despite a shoulder injury.

Packers injury report

The Packers have two players who are confirmed out of Sunday’s game: CB Nate Hobbs (knee) has been unavailable since week 9, while WR Jayden Reed (foot/shoulder) was limited in practice on Friday as he prepares to come off injured reserve. LB Quay Walker was listed as doubtful after missing all three days of practice with a neck injury. The Packers also listed six players as questionable, including RB Josh Jacobs, who left their win over the Giants early with a knee injury and was limited for the team’s last two practice sessions. QB Jordan Love, who also left the Giants game briefly, was a full participant all week, and should play on Sunday.

WRs Matthew Golden (shoulder/wrist), Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (foot) were all listed as questionable, but Romeo Doubs (wrist) and Christian Watson (knee) should be available on Sunday after making it through full practices on Friday. LB Micah Parsons (pectoral), S Javon Bullard (ankle), LB Edgerrin Cooper (foot), CB Keisean Nixon (illness), OL Zach Tom (back) and DL Luke Van Ness (foot) were also limited at some point during the week. K Brandon McManus was a full participant all week despite an injury to his right quad.
